Delicious: to remember

Hello again, I thought these days

may be right to comment on these new tools that can be found in the network tools that independent from operating systems and Companies business, and we can provide access to "our stuff" from anywhere and any computer.
course the debate is, some people think that there we lose our independence and privacy, to be all on the network. Even those who think it is a unique opportunity to share and to achieve development and expansion of ideas and networking resources are not so far. I understand there is a bit of everything, and, as usual, will have to stay positive with the matter and make appropriate use.

This time, I will comment something on this sensational tool called delicious. I decided to do so because, although in some circles is well known and can redudante be the commentary, there are many other people from which the reader may be, for those who is totally unknown and this is the only reason for not being used.

As its name suggests, is a rich resource to have stored all your bookmarks (or favorites) browser, and access them from any computer. Who has not ever happened that could not see anything by not being on your own computer, or you miss the favorites or bookmarks to reformat or reinstall your computer? Now, that is no problem with http://delicious.com

From this site, after registering, you can import bookmarks or already have favorites in the browser, add new ones, classified by tags (topics), etc. Can also be shared with others, and even the most popular view that people are sharing.

That's it for this occasion. Let me know something about your "delicious" experience. A shared remembering, and remember to share! Sounds nice, right? And we are to phenomena that transcend the limits of purely technical. Maybe that's why I'm interested in both ...

Greetings.

Debian GNU / Linux-up (III)

Hi all,

As promised, we now then with the third and final installment of our installation of a GNU / Linux on your computer, with Debian Lenny.

At this point, we have made the basic installation and had set up and some key issues, such as multimedia and backports repositories, and some basic issues of visual appearance. We had also already had our first contact with the console.

Well, at this time and we can only add packages and programs that will provide the necessary functionality to our system, to perform tasks more or less typical of a desktop user. Of course, what we will do first is to open the console as root or administrator. Console we had it in Applications - Accessories - Terminal or in the top panel, if we have added to the method explained in the previous installments. To do this, as we can remember, you type in console:

its

followed by Enter. We asked for an administrator password. The key (remember you do not see anything as we do, that's normal) and end with intro. Now we are ready to enter orders and commands as administrator.

And we started with an order which we have done previously, but that comes right to update the repositories and receive possible updates:

aptitude update followed by Enter. It gets updated. When finished, and go with the first set of packages that are going to be useful. Remember that sometimes tell us that you have to install many dependencies, and we will confirm to see if you really want to do or not. We say yes (s) or yes (y) as we ask, the case is to accept and confirm what we question.

First, install more graphic themes for the desktop, to have more options and let the graphics more to our liking, which will also we are more comfortable working with your computer. So that type:

aptitude install gnome-themes gnome-themes-extras

followed by Enter. We installed new windows themes, plus wallpapers, we can use and configure later.

Now we continue with installing fonts that are similar to those of Microsoft, and can help avoid problems of misalignment of documents or web pages precisely because of these differences in fonts. We do this by typing:

aptitude install ttf-installer-mscorefonts

followed by Enter. Is set to install all these sources (are enough and is a bit on it.)

Then install the flash for your browser. This allows us to view videos and animations our browsers, both Iceweasel and Epiphany-browser. Remember that is not installed by default, because a program is not free (not open source) but is transferred free of charge by its manufacturer. To do this type:

aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree

followed by Enter. Flash is installed. Then we will install a series of programs that will give us the usual features of a multimedia system. Type:

aptitude install flac lame libdvdcss2 w32codecs dvdrip ripperx xine-ui DeVeDe streamtuner audacity

followed by Enter. Will settle many more units than we have. We say yes (or yes, as we send). The Lame mp3 can work with us; libdvdcss2 allows us to view original DVDs on your computer. Flac enables support for the format of the same name. ripperx dvdrip and can rip music and video, w32codecs are commonly used codecs. DeVeDe can be converted to DVD format files that are in other formats and we want to display on the old DVD player that we need only read DVD. Xine is a great movie player with support for menus. Streamtuner is a "collector" of internet radio stations. And Audacity is a powerful, easy audio editor.

on media also certainly want to install a program to record CDs, make Data CDs and DVDs, etc. Coming soon in Debian (and currently in Ubuntu) will Brasero. Currently, Debian Lenny most interesting is k3b. But do not install it just like that. As part of the desktop kde k3b, if you try without the command to install, install many dependencies that we do not need, which are basic elements of kde. So as to avoid this problem, install with the-R, typing

aptitude install k3b-R

Followed by Enter. As you install it, only essential units, there and put-ins that we do want by typing: aptitude

install k3b-k3b-i18n-extracodecs libk3b3

Followed by Enter. We already have the k3b functional. You can say that we have a good multimedia supplements and functional.

Then we will install a utility downloads. It's no torrent or p2p program, it is simply a downloader for direct downloads. For example: Disk image of GNU / Linux. Is a downloader that can stop the download and continue another day from where you left off. Interesting for very large files. Type:

aptitude install d4x

Following intro. Downloads and installs quickly and easily. Then install the wine. This program that will allow us to run many Windows programs (not all) on our linux environment. Type:

aptitude install wine

Following intro. Surely we asked many units, we say yes and in other cases. Then will a utility that allows to limit the cpu usage of an application. Especially interesting when there are processes that consume too much and do not let us do something else, although we would not mind spending more time on task as long as we do in the meantime dejasen other things. To do this you type: aptitude install

cpulimit

followed by Enter. It installs quickly and de forma sencilla.

In this case, we will:

aptitude install linux-image-6.2.1930-bpo.2-686-bigmem

Followed by Enter. The other core is capable of recognizing more than 3 GB of RAM, which can not the kernel that we quoted above.

also include the installation of Java, allowing us to work particularly on some interactive pages (online games, etc.). To do this, type:

aptitude install sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jdk sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-source sun-java6-fonts

Followed by Enter. We also install more dependence, which we accept as well.

Now and we will go directly to the backports. We will install newer versions of both OpenOffice as iceweasel (firefox). To do this, when you install to specify that we want the backports versions, not the usual. As many agencies require and would probably propose "special arrangements" do it for parties. First, iceweasel. To do this type:

aptitude-t lenny-backports install iceweasel

followed by Enter. Can you tell us to do some "arrangement", we say yes as in previous cases. Then we go with openoffice. Type:

aptitude-t lenny-backports install openoffice.org

followed by Enter. Also tell us to do some "arrangement" of units. Similarly we say yes.

And that's it. We have a GNU / Linux Debian Lenny with comprehensive functions and renewed versions of some important programs and packages, but without losing the stability that only offers a Debian system in the stable branch. Remember that the next stable release of Debian will still take a few months.

I hope you can be this helpful. Linuxero Greetings!
